Whitelaw Rigging was established in 1973 in Whitelaw, Wisconsin as a rigging services provider and supplier. In the early years, the company completed numerous structural steel fabrication and erection projects.
In 1988, Thomas J. Miller joined the Company as President, and Whitelaw Rigging re-focused its mission to the fabrication and distribution of rigging supplies and lifting systems. From 1988 through 1995 the Company fabricated and installed numerous lifting systems throughout North East Wisconsin. At the same time, its products and services expanded to include swage-pressed wire rope slings and assemblies, sewn web synthetic slings, qualified hoist repair and a diverse inventory of quality rigging supplies, including custom designed, serialized and proof tested J-hooks.
In 1995, Whitelaw Rigging purchased the assets of a regional anchor bolt manufacturer, thereby expanding it’s bolt threading capability. Also in 1995, we moved to our 14000 Sq. Ft. facility in Valders, WI.
2004 included the addition of roll threading capability. The purchase of a Tesker 2-die cylindrical roll threader allowed for the consistent and efficient order flow of anchor bolts through 1-1/4″ diameter. Larger diameter and special material anchor bolts are still cut thread, with up to 4″ diameter capacity in a recent, newly purchased bolt threader.
In 2009, a 200,000# horizontal bed proof tested was added to the existing 30,000# and 10,000# vertical proof testers. All are calibrated yearly. This same year, Whitelaw Rigging integrated RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) into their inspection services, ensuring fast and accurate reporting to our inspection customers.
In 2010 Whitelaw Rigging began production of polyester roundslings, rounding out the existing manufacturing of web slings, wire rope slings, and assembly of alloy chain slings of proof tested components.
In 2017, Thomas Miller decided he wanted to spend less time working and more time traveling, so he sold the business and assets to WiscoLift, Inc., a competitor in the material handling market. Thomas will stay on as a consultant during the transition. All Whitelaw Rigging employees will continue to work at their location in Valders.
